A Friday in the Bipolar Lives of Me

So this past Friday I am having a typical slow start to my morning (it can take an hour for me to "get up" each day). My usual not-so-great bipolar depression mood is present. Blah, dead countenance, not much hope. I say to myself, "Another gray day, what the hey!"

But this doesn't last long. Things quickly changed when I got a call from my Dad. He said someone just called him saying they have my wallet! Now I have some anxiety to go along with my mood.

Oh no, not again!

This at least the 6th time I've lost my wallet. The mere thought of having to notify all those institutions and creditors that have cards in the wallet does not do well for one's spirit. How many times has  this unfortunate experience happened to you?

An Out-of-Pocket Experience

Good news! It turns out the wallet was in good hands at a local coffee shop. It had been there since  I went there on Wednesday for a late morning breakfast two days ago!

Apparently, it fell to the floor when I left. The manager at the restraunt said she found it in a dark corner, standing up against the wall hiding on the floor under the booth I ate at. There must have been dozens of people that sat within inches of it and never saw it.

I went to the coffee shop and got it from them. I checked it out, everything was there including about $70. I was stoked on that and left them some cash for getting my wallet back to me.

The ladies at the coffee shop found my Dad's phone number in the directory. Apparently I'm unlisted (fine with me) so they couldn't get a hold of me via 411. Also, I didn't have any useful contact information inside the wallet: no telephone numbers, note, or email address. Hmmm. Maybe I should change that.

Dragonfly

However, as I'm shutting up the house in preparation for the ride downtown to retrieve my wallet I see a large flying moth-like creature out of the corner of my eye. It was in the kitchen about five feet away.

Turns out to be a dragonfly. He was stuck in the house. So naturally, the health of the dragonfly being more important than the wallet, I proceed to help it escape.

I open the sliding glass door. I try to cajole it towards the open side of the door, towards freedom. But nooooo. It does like all the other entrapped flying things I tried to help over the years.

It just keeps buzzing and flying into the glass side of the door.

I try some more stuff and then tell it to find itself out. Sure enough, it was gone when I got home about an hour later. Cool. And then I took a three hour nap.

Humor Lifts Mood

After my nap I jumped on the computer.  I really wanted something to get me out of the small funk I was in. So I logged into my computer and checked around for something funny to read.

I found an email that made me laugh. It was a transcript of the funniest and most inappropriate comments made by NBC sports commentators during the 2012 London Olympic Games. Enjoy!

Until next time, live bipolar and prosper.

  2. I sometimes find myself forgetting things when I think about the crazy things I did the four times I was having major manic attacks. I could have frog my wallet. Or I may be in state of daze, but luckily I’m learning to stay on the task at hand without worrying about the past too much.
